Keeping your pet’s ears clean and teeth clean and clear can help prevent infections, foul odor, and bacteria buildup. Since most pets are sensitive about their ears being touched, it can be difficult to reach and clean them with standard cleaning utensils. To avoid injury, it is best to let professional groomers clean and trim the fur in and out of your pet’s ears. If you’re not sure what infections or problematic ears look like, professional groomers can also help to address these issues during cleaning.
Sometimes pets with unkept fur tend to grow sparse hairs in their canals as well. During ear maintenance, we’re able to go in with our tools to help remove those hairs. Removing ear hairs will prevent from bacteria buildup on the fur, an area that many pets have trouble grooming by themselves. Hair removal is recommended to divert pests that may otherwise fester in the warmth and moisture of hair within the ears.
Ear Cleaning Tools
Our pets’ ears come in all shapes and sizes and can’t be cleaned with the same tools we use. To begin the cleaning process, we’ll often start by cleansing the ear with a cotton pad. Each of the following tools we use to extract dirt, earwax, and debris, are thoroughly sanitized before use. Most pets’ ears can be cleaned with cotton pads or a wet cloth, but other may require more in-depth cleaning. Such tools for this are designed for professionals to adequately clean the crevices and creases of your pets’ ears with ease. We never push or poke the ear canal and use a sturdy harness to keep your pet in place to avoid injury. Many pets aren’t used to the sensation of ear cleaning, so to get them prepared for the tools, we always comfort and relax them beforehand.
